The End of an Era
I always knew at some point this day would come. And today is that day! The glue that has for so long held everything together at Beaver Cars has decided that enough is enough! It's time to put her feet up.
As many of you know, Beaver Cars is a family run business. From way back in the late nineties when we ran the business from an office at home, Mary (Mum!) has been involved, even when she didn't really want to be!!! So many times during those early days Mary would come home from her 'proper job' to be told by myself and Nick (Dad) that she was in charge!!! We're off to Heathrow we would yell as we crossed paths at the front door. Everything is on the desk!!! See you later. And that was that! We were away and Mum was there to hold everything together.
Eventually, Mary joined the business full time. She managed to get the business out of the house as we relocated to office premises but she was there every day come rain or shine!!! Over the years she has scaled back although her workload didn't as she became a grandparent so her responsibilities shifted!!!!
I think Mum has seen it all! The highs and lows of running your own business, the calls in the middle of the night, our calls for help when things didn't go right, the excitement of new accounts and new cars. Drivers came and went (although some are still here!!!) and now it is Mum's turn to enjoy her retirement without the interruption of Beaver Cars!!!!!
I'm not sure what will happen now!!!! Life goes on at Beaver Cars but for me it will certainly be odd next week when I realise that Mum is not in the office! But if there is one person that deserves a rest it is her!
So Mum, on behalf of us all, enjoy your retirement. We are indebted to you for everything you have done and send you all the love in the world. You no longer need to worry about everyone getting to Heathrow on time or being woken up at the crack of dawn! From now on it is someone else's job!!!! We will try and do this as well as you did although that is no easy task!!!!
Enjoy your last shift!!! Matt xx
